The academic climate at the University of Chicago in the early '70s planted a seed in the professional relationship between David Booth and Rex Sinquefield, which came to fruition when they later joined forces to found an investment firm based on the very academic research that brought them together.

Working years ahead of the industry, Dimensional forged a new way to invest. The firm inaugurated its strategies in the US in 1981 with early research into the performance of small cap shares. Later, a comprehensive analysis of share prices worldwide deepened the strategy repertoire and set a new standard for portfolio design. This evolution reflects an abiding belief in financial science and the efficacy of capital markets.

At Dimensional, we see markets as an ally, not an adversary. Rather than trying to take advantage of the ways markets are mistaken, we take advantage of the ways markets are right—the ways they compensate investors. The firm designs portfolios to help our investors capture what the market offers in all its dimensions.

Dimensional is owned primarily by employees and directors, and manages assets exclusively for institutional investors and the clients of registered financial advisers. From offices in Austin, Santa Monica, London, Sydney, and Vancouver our professional staff supervises portfolios and services clients twenty-four hours a day.

Dimensional Fund Advisors Ltd. is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Dimensional Ltd. was incorporated in 1990 to manage portfolios invested in European markets on behalf of Dimensional Fund Advisors' US clients. In 2002, the company established a local marketing initiative aimed at UK and Continental European institutions and financial advisers.

Dimensional Ltd. now offers a broad range of investment products encompassing both equity and fixed interest strategies to clients based in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa.
